Tanja Peinsipp (JAM) and Spitting Ibex celebrate the 'Stardust' release with support from Caterina Lee (JAM) at Porgy & Bess

JMLU student Tanja Peinsipp releases the fourth album with her Band Spitting Ibex. They will play their release gig at Porgy & Bess on Februar the 8th. Caterina LEE who is also studying will be the opening act in that evening. The event starts at 8 PM.

About Spitting Ibex

Spitting Ibex creates a soundscape that mirrors both the chaos and the beauty of life – a journey into the unknown. The mantra “I create love beyond the hate” serves as the guiding thread through all 10 tracks. Free improvisations, often taking unexpected turns, blend with soulful arrangements, showcasing a hypnotic and relaxed side of the band.

The fourth studio album by Spitting Ibex, “Stardust”, bridges the microcosm of humanity with the macrocosm of the universe. Every oxygen atom we breathe, every carbon atom in our muscles, the calcium in our bones, and the iron in our blood – all these building blocks of life originate from the dust of stars. The album aims to remind us that we literally carry stardust within us – born from massive stellar explosions that traversed the universe and laid the foundation for all life. From the very first notes, the essence of “Stardust” becomes tangible: bold, open, ready to make mistakes, and to grow from them.

About Caterina LEE

Caterina Lee will also present her own release. She will present her debut EP “Gilding the Lily” that evening. The record effortlessly blends Alternative Soul, Jazz, and Neo-Soul, with subtle touches of Hip-Hop. Across five tracks, Caterina delves into the theme of "romanticizing," reflecting on feelings of love and everyday moments of anticipation and disappointment. The EP creates a rich and atmospheric soundscape that beautifully complements the emotions expressed in the lyrics. “Gilding the Lily” invites listeners to question the act of romanticizing and to embrace the beauty of the moment without the weight of ideals.
