Abor & Tynna represent Germany at ESC 2025!

What a success for the Viennese sibling duo Abor & Tynna! Just last autumn, they captivated audiences at Music in the Woods in Gutenbrunn, located in the Waldviertel region. Now, they have won the German national selection and will represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

Tünde and Attila Bornemisza impressed both the jury and the audience with their modern German-language pop song "Baller." The catchy "Balalala" chorus especially stuck in listeners' minds. In a thrilling competition held in Hürth near Cologne, they competed against eight other acts. The final voting round was extremely close: with just over a third of the votes, they narrowly beat Berlin-based singer LYZA, who was considered a strong contender thanks to her 1.5 million TikTok followers.

This marks the first time since 2007 that Germany is sending a German-language song to Eurovision. Back then, Roger Cicero performed "Frauen regier’n die Welt" in Helsinki. Tünde and Attila's participation for Germany is possible because they hold citizenship of a European Broadcasting Union (EBU) member country.

Musical Roots and Career

The two musicians come from an artistically inclined family: their father, Csaba Bornemisza, is a cellist with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. They played classical instruments from an early age before their musical paths took different directions. Attila focused on song production, while Tünde established herself as a singer in the electronic music scene. In 2016, they released their first song together.

In 2024, Abor & Tynna joined Nina Chuba's tour as a supporting act, immersing themselves in the German music scene. Another highlight was their performance at the newly launched Music in the Woods workshop weekend in Lower Austria. This event, organized by JAM MUSIC LAB Private University Vienna, AKM, the Cultural Region of Lower Austria, and the Austrian Promoters Association, provided four days of intensive training in songwriting, music production, film scoring, and game audio, with input from top instructors like Michael Klimas (Söhne Mannheims), Grammy-winner Georg Luksch, media music department head Oliver Schmellenkamp, and Thomas Rabitsch. Alongside Abor & Tynna, CHOVO, the winner of the Protestsongcontest, was another rising local music talent featured at the event.

On Their Way to Europe

2025 marks a major breakthrough for Abor & Tynna. To coincide with their ESC preselection, the duo released their debut album "Bittersüß" in February, which has been resonating strongly with Gen Z. Now, the next big milestone is just a few months away: the Eurovision Song Contest in Switzerland, where they will perform in front of a global audience of millions. In May, it will be revealed how many points Abor & Tynna can "baller" to Germany with their electrifying song!
