Mind Machines - KI-Live-Performance with Music & Visual Storytelling
From 24 to 26 October 2024, the symposium ‘Experiencing and Understanding Artificial Intelligence’ will be held in St. Veit/Glan. Over 30 programme items aim to establish a connection between AI and society. The event will kick off with the interactive live performance Mind Machines by the cultural association ‘visualSmusic’, which will take place at the Klagenfurt City Theatre. In Mind Machines, music and live visuals merge into a total work of art in which the audience can actively participate and help shape the creative outcome.
23.10.2024 - 7.30 pm - Klagenfurt City Theatre
Interactive live performance, followed by an on-stage discussion with experts
Moderation: Helmut Jasbar (Ö1 radio producer)
Dieter Boyer (theatre director)
Richard Graf (Vice Rector JAM Music Lab, composer, artist, director MAX BRAND ENSEMBLE)
Dennis Brandner (musician, artist, director of visualSmusic e.V., lecturer at City College New York)
Aron Stiehl (artistic director of the Klagenfurt City Theatre, director)
In their work, the artists deal intensively with the history of the development of artificial intelligence. This raises key questions: What does it mean to create art? What could a productive collaboration with AI look like? Is such a connection even desirable? These questions are explored through the targeted use of modern AI technologies in the areas of composition, performance and visual design. At the same time, the audience is given the opportunity to actively influence the course of the performance. Mind Machines thus not only offers a fascinating interplay of music and visuals, but also invites the audience to a critical and inspiring reflection on the role of AI in art.
