JMLU professor Jörg Leichtfried received federal grant for musical composition

Jörg Leichtfried received state scholarship for composition 2024! The majority of recipients of the State Scholarship for Composition are rooted in classical music. However, Jörg Leichtfried, a gifted jazz musician, has been awarded this prestigious grant, making it an especially significant achievement for him.

Reflecting on this milestone, the recipient shared:
"Thanks to my State Scholarship for Composition, I was able to delve much deeper into the craft this year than I usually can, composing for a wide range of projects and ensembles. Among other works, I created two pieces for piano and string quartet, which we’ve just recorded. All in all, I can look back on an incredibly busy yet immensely exciting year."

We congratulate Jörg Leichtfried on this outstanding accomplishment!
