Film Music Summer Camp

In this 4 – week Summer Camp you will be guided through the process of creating a modern Film Score:
Kicking off with how to pitch for a film-project, on creating the best mock-ups, orchestrating, to preparing the music and executing scoring-sessions successfully.
All offered courses are creditable in the context of Bachelor and Master Studies with Major in Media Music at JAM MUSIC LAB University.
Under the guidance of lecturers Johannes Vogel and Oliver Schmellenkamp the students will gain invaluable knowledge and professional craftsmanship for the process of Film Scoring of Hollywood Blockbusters and A-list Computer-Games.
Students will be scoring to original Hollywood footage, guided through the complete production process right up to recording their own scores with top-class musicians.
For international students the Film Music Summer Camp package includes all classes and seminars, accommodation, food, cultural program in Vienna, Sibelius notation software and the recording sessions.
The JAM Music Lab University Vienna will provide rooms and space for individual private study periods.

- All Summer Camp students are invited to be guests at the sessions
All Summer Camp students will spend a hole day at the world famous Synchron Stage Vienna. They will be guided through the complete process of an orchestra recording session from the “empty” stage through orchestra stage set-up, microphone-selection, monitor infra-structure, acoustic considerations/aesthetics, testing and levelling.
12 students will record their scores under the guidance of the Synchron Stage team, all other Summer Camp students can participate as listeners at the stage and/or the control room.
This will be an invaluable experience of a real-life situation in one of the hottest and most famous recording stages in the world, regularly booked by A-list composers such as Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson Williams, Bear McCreary and many more.
